What can a mini facelift treat?

A mini facelift treats mild jowling, fullness under the chin, and mild banding of muscles in the upper neck.

Mini Facelift

What does the procedure involve?

This procedure involves incisions placed under the chin, in front and behind the ears. Through these incisions, the tissues are resuspended, tightened, and debulked of excess fat. Loose skin is then removed along the incisions.

Because a mini facelift does not involve the complete suspension of tissues and redraping of skin of the face and neck, there is less risk of bleeding, nerve and muscle injury. The pain and discomfort is much less in a mini facelift, and thus, most individuals are able to tolerate the procedure under local anesthesia (injection of numbing medicine) and oral sedation (such as valium).

Much like a traditional facelift, a compression garment will need to be worn 24/7 for the first week. A softer band will be provided the second week and worn at night and while resting at home for an additional week. The band prevents additional swelling from pulling on incisions, stretching the skin and thus creating additional loose skin. Normal physical and social activities can typically be resumed 2 weeks after a successful procedure. Unlike a traditional facelift, a mini facelift does not require placement of drains. Bruising and swelling is also significantly less in a mini facelift compared to a traditional facelift.
