Botox/Dysport
Treatment for dynamic wrinkles.
Dynamic Wrinkles
The lines on our face may tell a story of happiness and sadness. Wrinkles develop over time from the repeated movement of our facial muscles - on our forehead, around the eyes, nose and mouth.
Dynamic wrinkles are lines that appear only with movement of our facial muscles. At rest, they are not present. Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport best treat these wrinkles by temporarily weakening the associated muscles.
If done consistently, Botox not only treats your current dynamic wrinkles, but may also help prevent static wrinkles from developing in the future.
Static wrinkles occur at a later stage when the repeated facial movements create more permanent changes in the skin and soft tissues. These lines are always present, even when the face is at rest. The best treatment for static wrinkles is with a combination of neuromodulators and fillers.
Deeper areas of folds and hallowing typically represent volume loss and descent which are better treated with fillers.

What are the Side Effects & Down Time?
There is essentially no down time with Botox/Dysport injections. There may be some small red bumps immediately following the procedure which quickly resolve and may be easily covered with make-up.
It is encouraged that you do not engage in any rigorous activity for 24 hours after the injection, and to avoid any deep facial massage and exfoliation for same amount of time.
Bruising may occur with any needle insertion. Ways to avoid more bruising than typical would be to avoid aspirin 10 days prior to the procedure, icing, and using Arnica, an herbal supplement shown to help resolve swelling and bruising.
